Shortly after sunrise Saturday morning, teams began arriving at Torpedo Wharf, just east of the Golden Gate Bridge. It was a blustery morning (as usual), and some of the plastic bags for the ninth clue were blown into the bay as teams tried to grab them.

Teams received a plastic bag containing several pieces of paper. The first sheet contained the six-letter code "cqrdrb", but it didn't have much to do with the story. Typing "analyze cqrdrb" into the Networking Toolkit only printed:
